Description

The project combines a ground-mounted photovoltaic plant of 90 MW with a co-located battery energy storage system of 90 MW / 360 MWh (four-hour) on about 99 hectares in Hunedoara County, western Romania, roughly 20 km south of the county's main transmission hub.

The grid connection approval (ATR) was issued by the transmission system operator Transelectrica in June 2026 for 85.35 MW of export capacity and 94.65 MW of import capacity, on the basis of an approved solution study. The connection is made at 110 kV through a new dedicated bay in the adjacent 220/110 kV transmission substation, reached by about 1.5 km of underground cable from the project's own 110/33 kV collection station. Because the substation is immediately nearby, the connection tariff is low for a transmission-level project — in the order of €17,500 per MW of approved capacity, with the upstream reinforcement share already included. The approved capacity becomes fully available in the final stage from 31 December 2028, in line with the operator's transmission development programme.

The land is extra-urban pasture used in dual mode (grazing and solar generation) under Law 254/2022 and Law 166/2023, so no zonal urban plan is required. Site control runs for 49 years under a lease and superficies right, and the plot also carries the platform for the project's own station. Urban-planning certificates were issued in November 2025 and the pedological and topographical studies are complete.

Remaining steps are the environmental approval, the building permit, the connection contract and the ANRE set-up licence, with ready-to-build targeted for Q4 2026. The project is held in a dedicated Romanian project company and is offered as a share deal. Full documentation — grid approvals, studies, land titles and permits — is available in the data room under NDA.
